Jury Rules Against Monsanto in Weed Killer Suit, Awards 289-Million-Dollars

A San Francisco jury is handing down a reported 250-million-dollar award to a Bay Area man who sued the Monsanto Company.

Dewayne Lee Johnson claimed in his civil suit that his continued exposure to Monsanto's Roundup weed killers caused his cancer.  Johnson is a high school grounds keeper in Benicia and has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

He will receive 250-million-dollars in punitive damages, plus up to 39-million-dollars more for past and future economic losses.
