UPDATE: BCPD: 3 arrested after woman hurt in shooting

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Two suspects and the apparent intended target were arrested after shots were fired in Battle Creek Tuesday, wounding a woman.

It happened around 11:45 a.m. in the area of West Goguac Street and South Washington Avenue. fficers say a white vehicle was driving by when someone leaned out the sunroof and fired the shots.

A 27-year-old woman was hit in the back. Police say she was conscious and alert when she was taken to the hospital and her injuries are not life-threatening.

The woman and witnesses helped the Battle Creek Police Department track the car to a home on Arthur Street, where it had been left. Surveillance cameras in the area captured the suspects getting into a silver Cadillac SUV.

That SUV was later spotted headed west on I-94. It was pulled over and two men were arrested without incident.

The suspects, both 23-year-old Battle Creek men, were jailed on charges of assault with intent to murder.
