KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The Better Business Bureau is warning homeowners about a no-show deck contractor from Kalamazoo who’s allegedly cheated customers out of thousands of dollars.
Kalamazoo Craftsman, which is a deck building business, has an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau Serving Western Michigan. The BBB says the business also goes by the name Decked Out.
According to customer complaints to the BBB, David Sohlden has repeatedly agreed to build or replace someone’s deck, taken the money for the project, then never starts or finishes the work. Customers say he won’t answer or return their phone calls and has frequently canceled follow-up appointments.
One customer reported losing $6,000 to the company; another is out $5,000, according to the BBB. The agency says all complaints have gone unanswered and remain unresolved by Kalamazoo Craftsman.
