GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man convicted in the August 2016 shooting death of a Grand Rapids worker will spend decades in prison.
A Kent County judge Thursday sentenced Ramon Catrell Logan to 38 to 100 years in prison for second-degree homicide in the shooting death of Kenneth Kirkwood.

Kirkwood, 39, was hired to renovate a home on College Avenue north of Dickinson Street. He was taking a break when three men approached him and demanded money, police said. The suspects shot Kirkwood multiple times and pistol-whipped a man he was with.
Logan wasn't charged in the case until October 2017. At the time, he was already jailed on an unrelated charge.
The judge Thursday also ordered Catrell to spend 2 years in prison on a felony firearm charge, which he must serve after his homicide sentence.
