Ken's Fruit Market closing 28th Street location

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Ken's Fruit Market in Wyoming will be closing its doors for good after opening two years ago.

"We've decided to close down this location here in Wyoming," said Alex Courts, manager of Ken's Fruit Market. "We need to take a step back in our business and just kind of focus on our other locations, and this one isn't doing as well as our other ones."

The location is on 28th Street near Clyde Park Avenue. They say business has been down at the store, but the other two locations, one in Alger Heights and the other off Plainfield Avenue, are doing well. One of the issues Ken's has had at the Wyoming store is a lack of good employees.

"It’s tough everywhere, but this location seems to be one of the hardest there is to find help for," Courts said.

Ken's Fruit Market was founded in 2010 by Ken Courts and his wife. Their son Alex says taking care of customers, selling the freshest meats and produce, and providing a quick in-and-out shopping experience are important.
