Linemen get spotlight at Plainwell's 'Battle of the Bigs'

PLAINWELL, Mich. (WOOD) — Five weeks ahead of the start of high school football, players are spending their summer vacations to prepare for the 2018 season.

On Friday, Plainwell High School hosted its ninth annual lineman challenge known as the “Battle of the Bigs.”

Fifty teams featuring 250 linemen from 22 West Michigan schools took part in a series of challenges from the bench press to sled drive relays. The event was created to put the spotlight on the guys in the trenches who don’t typically get much attention.
