Growing number of families facing homelessness

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — There is a daily battle in West Michigan. One many don't see, won't feel and may never understand. It's a battle against homelessness.

It’s a problem that too many people do see, feel and understand, according to the United Way Heart of West Michigan.

"It's a big issue in our community and we have lots of organizations that are working to solve it," said Ellen Carpenter, the vice president of marketing at UWHWM.
