John Ball Zoo welcomes endangered Bali mynahs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — For those of you who can’t make it to Bali, a little bit of the tropical paradise is now on display in Grand Rapids.

John Ball Zoo has officially welcomed a pair of Bali mynahs to its Asian aviary, located near the children’s zoo.

The monogamous pair look alike and have reproduced in the past. Zoo officials are hopeful baby Bali mynahs are in the future.

The Bali mynah is among the most critically endangered species of its kind in the world, and the most critically endangered species to live at the zoo, officials say.
