Power out for days at mobile home park amid heat

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Frustrated residents in a Kentwood mobile home park say power outages that persisted for the better part of three days forced them to sleep outdoors.

Residents say more than a dozen homes at Windmill Pointe Village lost electricity Saturday. Despite the efforts of the repair crews, restoration lasted only briefly prior to a repair Monday evening that seemed to provide a more lasting fix, residents said.

"It was like hell," said Abigail Rubio, who said she slept outdoors with her family one night because of the extreme heat. "Kids are sweating, crying. They want to take their naps, they want to take a shower, but there's no light."
