Power expected to be restored Tuesday after Sunday storms

(WOOD) — Thousands of people were without power in West Michigan Monday after storms rolled through the area Sunday night, packing strong winds.

Consumers Energy told 24 Hour News 8 that more 17,700 customers were without power across the state Monday. 

Roger Morgenstern with Consumers Energy said the utility company expects a majority of customers to have their power restored by 12 a.m. Tuesday. He noted that some customers in northern and western Kent County may not have power until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
