Volunteers pack 200K meals for W MI families

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Hundreds gathered Thursday at Van Andel Arena to help fight hunger in the Grand Rapids community.

Volunteers spent the day packing 200,000 meals for West Michigan families in need. The meals will be distributed to several local food pantries by Feeding America.

According to a Feeding America study, hunger threatens at least 1 in 8 people in our community, and the problem can get more severe in the summer when kids don’t have access to school meals.
