Man marks 100th birthday with Whitecaps pitch

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man celebrating his 100th birthday got a special surprise Monday: He threw out the first pitch at a West Michigan Whitecaps game.

Donn Palmer is a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II.

"Exciting," he said of being honored with the first pitch. "A little big tiring, but exciting."

He said it had been about 30 years since he had played baseball, but he's still a big fan.

"Coming to Whitecaps games are always big," he said.
