MSP, MDOT partner to protect battered 100th St. bridge

BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich.  — Michigan State Police plan to step up patrols at a US-131 overpass that’s been repeatedly hit by vehicles this year.

The Michigan Department of Transportation and MSP will unveil their plan for “targeted enforcement” of the 100th Street bridge near Byron Center around 10 a.m. Thursday.

MDOT spokesman John Richard says the move is meant to prevent any further damage to the span, which recently reopened to all traffic.
