DOWAGIAC, Mich. (WOOD) — Officers are looking for the driver who hit a pedestrian walking along the edge of M-51.
Dowagiac police were called to the 56000 block of M-51 South near Lyle Street around 10:35 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses told officers four people were facing oncoming traffic, walking south on the shoulder of the highway when a vehicle hit one of them.
Officers say a good Samaritan stopped to help the victim, who is a 20-year-old man from Dowagiac. An ambulance took him to a nearby hospital with injuries police believe are not life-threatening.
