GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) — Grand Rapids Community College is adding another layer of security to protect its campus during an emergency.
A new lockdown system will allow designated GRCC officials to seal 400 campus doors with the press of one button.
It's a big change from the current system in place.
"What we have right now is a shelter-in-place opportunity versus a lockdown because we don't have the ability to electronically lock down from a remote location," GRCC Campus Police Chief Rebecca Whitman told 24 Hour News 8.
