1 killed in fiery US-131 crash in Kent County

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police say at  least one person is dead following a fiery three-vehicle crash on  US-131.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday on northbound US-131 between West River and Post drives, according to dispatchers. 

It’s unclear what led to the crash or if anyone else was injured.

The  highway's northbound lanes are closed at West River Drive in Plainfield  Township. Southbound US-131 is down to one lane as authorities respond  to the crash. 

Drivers  are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route. Those  stuck in the traffic backup are being rerouted onto southbound US-131.
