Court docs detail gas station shooting suspects' interviews

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — A man arrested in a deadly robbery attempt at a Wyoming gas station placed himself at the scene of the crime during an interview with investigators, court documents show.

Willie Bryant Jr. was arrested at a Grand Rapids McDonald’s Monday night, about 15 hours after allegedly shooting and killing clerk Shannon Rozanski-Schoen at the Marathon gas station at 28th Street and Buchanan Avenue.

A probable cause document obtained by 24 Hour News 8 Wednesday indicates the 33-year-old man was seen on surveillance video demanding cash from employees and twice shooting Schoen, who died.

The gas station owner who was there at the time of the shooting said it didn’t appear anything was taken from the store.

A second probable cause document stated Willie Bryant Jr.’s cousin, Gary Bryant, placed himself at the scene of the crime during a police interview.  Investigators say the 58-year-old man stayed in the vehicle during the robbery attempt.

Both Bryants are expected to be formally charged with homicide and felony murder in Wyoming District Court Thursday morning.
