LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Drivers won’t be ticketed for removable objects blocking their license plates after new legislation was signed Wednesday.
Rep. Holly Hughes, R-Montague, sponsored the legislation that allows removable bike racks, trailer hitches, tow balls or similar devices used to carry objects on the back of a vehicle.
Previous legislation didn’t include those objects in its definition of foreign objects that obscure the view of vehicle license plates.
“By updating this law, I hope our outdoor enthusiasts feel more at east transporting their bikes and other recreational vehicles,” Snyder said in a release.
