The latest in the Jeffrey Willis trial for the kidnapping and murder of Jessica Heeringa:

12:15 p.m. – MJN testifies that when she saw the photo of Jeffrey Willis there was no doubt in her mind that he was her attempted abductor.

The prosecutor questions MJN about a photo of the gun she saw. She testifies she thought it was a real gun the morning of the incident.

The judge orders a recess for lunch until 1:30 p.m.

Noon – The defense is now questioning MJN.

MJN testifies there were about 50 people at the party, but she didn’t ask any of them to use their cellphone to call for a ride.

Public Defender Fred Johnson questions MJN about how much she drank and smoked; she testifies she had smoked and drank before and it had been more than 24 hours since she slept.

MJN testifies it was weeks later when she saw a picture of Willis and identified him as her attempted abductor.

MJN said she never heard gunshots.

11:45 a.m. – MJN is the first witness to testify. She was 16 years old when she went to a party with a friend. She says she drank and smoked marijuana, but was sober by the time she left the party.

MJN says her friend locked himself in the vehicle she was supposed to leave in, so she started walking home.

MJN says she asked a guy on a bike if she was walking toward a gas station, he said she was walking towards the lake. When she asked to use his phone, it died.

MJN says she wasn’t know what road she was on – that’s when she testified that Jeffrey Willis pulled up. She says she didn’t know who he was, but she later identified him in a photo lineup after the incident.

MJN testifies the silver van pulled up to her and she asked the driver. He told her to get in to use his phone. He was alone, MJN says. She says he rolled up the window when she got in. When she asked to use the phone, he told her his phone had died, she testifies.

When she told him to let her out, MJN says he slowed down and stared at her. She says he pulled a gun out from underneath his seat. That’s when she says she unlocked the door and jumped out and fell onto the ground.

MJN says the van never stopped.

“(I had to) run for my life… I thought he was going to hurt me,” she says.

MJN says when she turned around to look at him, he was standing behind his van with a gun aimed at her.

“I asked him to please don’t shoot me,” MJN recounts.

She says she ran to the house of a stranger, who called 911.

Prosecutor Hilson reviews images of MJN’s injuries.

MJN identifies the man who abducted her as Willis.
