Muskegon Co. man jailed for alleged brutal beating

LAKETON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Muskegon County man accused of brutally beating a woman nearly to death is now facing a felony charge.

Brian Curtis Vink of Laketon Township remains in the Muskegon County jail on a $50,000 bond.

Vink, 31, was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder last month, according to Muskegon County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Timothy Maat.

The charge stems from an alleged assault on his girlfriend, which Maat says happened between April 16 and April 18.

Matt confirmed police were notified of the alleged attack when the 40-year-old woman arrived at the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, as well as bruises and possible bite marks.

The unidentified victim underwent emergency surgery for a head injury and has regained consciousness, but her condition is still “very serious,” according to Maat.

Vink’s next court hearing is scheduled for May 7.
