GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan House of Representatives has passed its spending recommendations for the upcoming fiscal year.
Rep. Terry Sabo, D-Muskegon, said it doesn’t take care of Michigan cities.
“This has been something that is just so frustrating to me, even before I got into the legislature, to watch what our state government — how they're shorting our local governments in their revenue sharing,” Sabo said. “The revenue sharing dollars that are coming to municipalities have been way underfunded. “
Sabo said the legislature is continuing to ask more of the local units of government to provide different services, but aren’t funding them at the level they want.
