Grand Rapids Pride Center offering free health event

From our media partner at WOOD TV:

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Pride Center is holding an event to help LGBTQ individuals seek free health services.

The first-ever "Proud to be Healthy" event aims to reduce stigma and intimidation that LGBTQ individuals often feel when trying to find doctors. People will have the opportunity to meet with health care providers one-on-one, like primary care physicians and therapists.

"Our goal with this was really to make sure we're creating the safest space possible for people of the LGBTQ community to come and receive physical health and mental health services," Thomas Pierce, Executive Director of the Grand Rapids Pride Center, told 24 Hour News 8.
