Griffins' season on the line Thursday night

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Griffins’ season hangs in the balance going into Game 4 Thursday night.

The Griffins are down 2-1 to the Manitoba Moose in a best-of-five series in the Calder Cup Playoffs following a 6-3 loss at home Wednesday.

Grand Rapids outshot the Moose 48-25 Wednesday, but were never able to obtain a lead at any point. Manitoba jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals less than five minutes apart.

Although the Griffins cut the deficit to one several times throughout the games, two empty-net goals at the end of the third period sealed the Griffins’ loss.

If Grand Rapids wins Thursday, Game 5 will be played at 7 p.m. Monday at Van Andel Arena.
