GRFC to sell beer at home games

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) —The Grand Rapids Football Club announced Thursday they have reached an agreement to sell beer at all home games.

GRFC plays all its home games at Grand Rapids Public School's Houseman Field.

“This is a great day for GRFC, as we have been chasing this for a while now,” said GRFC president Matt Roberts in a release. “The ability to sell beer in the stadium is a massive step forward for the club, and we couldn’t be more excited to see it finally be approved after four years. GRPS has been a great partner in this venture and we look forward to continuing to support them as they strive to give the kids of our city every opportunity they deserve.”

The agreement will benefit GRPS as well, as the club has agreed to split all profits from the beer sales with the district, in addition they will continue to donate 100 percent of the sales from concessions.

New Holland Brewing will be the partner of the club as the exclusive craft beer provider. GRFC's official beer, New Holland’s Xtra Time, will be one of the beers available at the stadium.

All beer sales will be conducted in accordance with Michigan Liquor Control Commission regulations by servers trained and certified through an alcohol server training program approved by the MLCC.

People will have to have a valid ID in order to get a wristband to be able to purchase beer. Certain parts of the stadium will be designated as "family zones," where beer will not be allowed.

GRFC returns to Houseman Field for their fourth campaign at 7:30 p.m. May 4. The team will take on Livonia City FC.
