Woman's body found days after Muskegon Heights fire

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are looking into why a woman found dead in a burned Muskegon Heights home wasn’t discovered by investigators for days.

The fire happened around 4:38 a.m. on Saturday in the 2900 block of 6th Street. The first crews to arrive at the scene found flames burning through the roof of the boarded up building, as well as fire on the first and second floors.

With the help of additional crews, Muskegon Heights firefighters got the flames under control in about an hour. The last firefighters left the scene about 2.5 hours after the first call.
