Shooting victims, suspect killed by officers ID'd

PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a domestic dispute was at the root of a deadly shooting in Muskegon and subsequent officer-involved shooting in Ottawa County Sunday morning.

Muskegon police say 25-year-old Mariah Cantu and 29-year-old Jordan Carey, both of Muskegon, were shot during a dispute at a home on Merrill Avenue near 6th Street. Carey died at the scene. Cantu was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released.

Authorities say Hartman drove to the Muskegon home with his wife Mary, arriving there just after 7:20 a.m. Sunday. Neighbors said Carey was shot in the head when he opened the door and a bullet grazed Cantu’s face.
