Johnny Agar inspires in new Under Armour global campaign

ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — A Rockford man whose fight to walk has inspired athletes across the nation is now part of a new global campaign by Under Armour.

Johnny Agar was born with cerebral palsy.

“He never should have been able to walk, given the condition he’s in,” said his father, Jeff Agar.

For years, West Michigan has watched Johnny Agar’s journey, one step at a time.

No one has been more inspired than his Team Agar running partner – his dad, Jeff Agar.

"The inspiration that other people see, I get it every day. The reason I'm out doing it is because of him,” said Jeff Agar.

It was Johnny who inspired him to take up endurance training. That was several years, races and triathlons ago.

“Eventually he got to the point where he could walk 20 steps,” his father said. “(A) couple years later, he walked that full mile. WOOD TV captured it and that really launched Johnny into being seen by ESPN. And it’s just blown up from there.”

Now, Johnny Agar is one of eight athletes profiled in Under Armour’s new ad about beating the odds, narrated by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
