Victim ID'd in fatal Kent Co. crash

TYRONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash that happened Monday afternoon in Tyrone Township.

It happened around 3 p.m. Monday on M-37 and Fruit Ridge Avenue NW, just west of Kent City.

Michigan State Police said 33-year-old Matthew Hoaglin of Stanton was killed in the crash after a semi-truck failed to yield and pulled out in front of him. Hoaglin struck the semi and was lodged underneath the trailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
