MDOT reveals plan for battered 100th Street bridge

BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A few inches of pavement will be removed to increase the clearance of the battered 100th Street bridge over US-131 in southern Kent County.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said the resurfacing project, which is expected to start in September, will stretch from the Allegan/Kent County line to 76th Street in Byron Township.

The 100th Street bridge has been hit seven times by semi-trucks since January. Between 1985 and 2003, the overpass was struck six times, according to MDOT.
