GR Festival of the Arts fundraising for 50th year

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Festival of the Arts in Grand Rapids is asking for the public's help to fund the celebration of its 50th year next summer.

The festival is held each year for three days during the first weekend of June. It features food and art in all forms, including painting, sculptures, music and dance.

It is free to the public, but only with the help of donations and volunteers.

"When you think about the last 50 years, the UICA did not exist, our symphony did not perform in DeVos Hall because there was no DeVos Hall. When you think of what Festival of the Arts has birthed over these 49 years, this is absolutely a tradition we are going to keep and we are going to keep going," Festival Interim Executive Director David Abbott said.
