W. MI firefighters come together for training

LAWRENCE, Mich. (WOOD) — Fire crews from Kalamazoo, Van Buren and Berrien counties gathered in Lawrence Saturday to train together.

Crews trained on responding to large crashes and rescuing crash victims. The training wasn't only important from a technical standpoint, but also builds a chemistry while working with crews from other cities and counties.

"We wanna get guys used to playing together before they wind up on that scene so that they recognize each other, they've worked together and we all understand the same game plan," Van Buren County Firefighter Training Committee Chairman Jed Wild said. "It's about safety, and it's about learning some new techniques."
