Kalamazoo Co. considers joining opioid lawsuit

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Kalamazoo County will look into joining a federal lawsuit against drug companies over the opioid crisis.

Commissioners discussed the matter for about an hour Tuesday, ultimately giving a recommendation to the county administrator to conduct more research.

The commission discussion centered around questions of costs with the litigation, how much the lawsuit would actually help reduce the number of overdose deaths and the resources the county doesn't have to help citizens struggling with addiction.
