LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Police in Lansing say a man was badly wounded after shooting at tactical officers who tracked him down after he earlier fired at another officer.
The department says the 25-year-old man was in critical but stable condition after Saturday's shooting. No officers were wounded.
Police say officers began searching for the man after shots were fired at an apartment complex where no one was injured. An officer who spotted him about an hour later reported that the man shot at her and she returned fire.
Officials say the man fled and was spotted by a helicopter at an abandoned lumberyard. Officers approached him with an armored truck, but police say that's when he opened fire and the officers wounded him multiple times.
The man's name wasn't immediately released.
