LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has activated the state's Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) to monitor the re-entry of China's Tiangong-1 space station into the Earth's atmosphere.
China launched the station in 2011, but lost control in 2016. That's why state officials would rather be prepared for debris hitting Michigan, which is in a small portion of projected landing zones around the world.
Most of the space station is expected to burn up during re-entry but some debris could make landfall.
