GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids commissioners have voted to select a new city clerk.

The city commission voted Thursday afternoon to appoint Joel Hondorp as city clerk. Hondorp had served the same position for Byron Township since 2000.

As Grand Rapids’ clerk, Hondorp will oversee a budget of over $1 million, manage 10 full-time staffers and provide election and administrative guidance.

In a city release, Managing Director of Administrator Services Mari Beth Jelks said he will likely assume the position within the next 30 days.
