Former Bangor police chief facing charges

BANGOR, Mich. (WOOD) — A former Bangor police chief is among seven current and former police officers facing charges following a statewide FBI investigation.

Elena Danishevskaya is facing 25 felony counts of uttering and publishing in connection to fraudulent auto inspections. Each count faces a maximum penalty of 14 years.

A Michigan Attorney General’s Office release said the investigation was centered on improper salvage vehicle inspections where the alleged officers falsified Secretary of State documents for inspections intended to detect stolen vehicles and parts.
