Kzoo issues advisory after sewer overflow

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Services were notified of sanitary sewer overflow in the city Tuesday night.

A blockage happened at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Ravine Road, and was removed at 10:15 p.m. by Department of Public Services staff.

The amount of material removed from the sanitary sewer manhole is estimated to be around 360 gallons, according to authorities.

The sanitary sewer’s flow conditions have been returned to normal and the surrounding area has been remediated.

The Water Reclamation Plant has notified the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality at the Kalamazoo District Office along with the Kalamazoo County Environmental Health and Community Services of the spill.
