GVSU announces search committee for new president

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD)—The Grand Valley Board of Trustees announced the final 14 members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee who will aid the board in the search for Grand Valley State University’s next president.

The new appointees will join trustees John Kennedy, Mary Kramer, Megan Sall and Kate Pew Wolters, who already sit on the board as PSAC members.

Current GVSU President Thomas Haas is scheduled to retire June 30, 2019. He has served as president of the university for the last 11 years.

Here is the full list of the 14 members recently appointed to the search committee:

  • Felix Ngassa, professor of chemistry, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Faculty Senate
  • Majd Al-Mallah, professor of modern languages and literatures, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Sean Lancaster, professor, chair of literacy and technology, College of Education
  • Samhita Rhodes, associate professor of biomedical engineering, Padnos College of Engineering and Computing
  • Deborah Bambini, professor of nursing, Kirkhof College of Nursing
  • Kathryn Remlinger, professor of English, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Ellen Schendel, assistant vice president for Academic Affairs
  • Diana Lawson, dean of the Seidman College of Business
  • Kyle Caldwell, executive director, Johnson Center for Philanthropy, College of Community and Public Service
  • Daniel Hurwitz, assistant vice president for community giving, University Development Offfice
  • Cheryl Bouwman, assistant, Office of University Communications, member, Association of Professional Support Staff
  • Jonathan Bowman, Student Senate president
  • Selma Tucker, vice president, Public Sector Consultants
  • Mitchell Watt, Triangle construction, member of Grand Valley University Foundation
