State aid for low-income homeowners after flood

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — State assistance is available for low-income homeowners impacted by the February floods.

In a Monday release, Lt. Gov. Brian Calley's office reminded Michigan residents that the State Emergency Relief program will provide immediate help to families dealing with "extreme hardship" or "emergencies that threaten health and safety." Those eligible for aid can receive up to $1,500 for home repairs not covered by insurance.

You can apply through a local Michigan Department of Health and Human Services office or the MI Bridges website.
