Miranda From Sex In The City Is Running for Governor of New York

Miranda Hobbes aka Cynthia Nixon is running for Governor of New York.

The "Sex and the City" star -- who had a starring role on the HBO series for six seasons -- announced her  candidacy Monday for New York City's Governor with a tribute video to her home state. 

"I love New York, and today I'm announcing my candidacy for governor. Join us," she declared with a link to her campaign homepage.

In the promo, she campaigns for better opportunities for the children of NY, and calls out unequal wealth distribution across the entire state. "Our leaders are letting us down," the actor says. 

Miranda -- er, Cynthia Nixon will be facing off against incumbent New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who's been in office since 2010. He's said he's running for a third term.
