Murdered teen's mom gets LaughFest crowd rolling

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — If Stacey Hilton was worried that she wouldn’t get laughs during her stand-up comedy performance at LaughFest, her fears were quickly relieved.

Hilton performed Friday night at the B.O.B. in downtown Grand Rapids as part of LaughFest, the annual fundraiser for Gilda’s Club. She decided to perform to give back to the organization that helped her through the devastating time in her life after her daughter McKenna was murdered by her half-brother in 2016.

It was Hilton’s first time performing comedy in front of an audience. She said she was sure her daughter would be “hideously embarrassed” about the idea, but certainly supportive.

Friday night, Hilton performed as part of LaughFest's first-timers showcase event.

“Hi everybody, my name is Stacey. I’m absolutely not a comedian,” she is seen saying to the crowd in a Facebook video an audience member took of the performance.
