1 injured in shooting near WMU's campus

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are investigating after a 33-year-old man was shot near Western Michigan University’s campus in Kalamazoo Friday.

It happened shortly after 2 a.m. in the 700 block of Howard Street near Michigan Avenue.

When police arrived on scene, officers did not find any victims but did find evidence a gun had been fired.

A short time later, a man with a gunshot wound showed up at Bronson Hospital. He is listed in serious condition, according to a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety press release.
