Flooding closes Grand River, parks in GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The City of Grand Rapids has closed all portions of the Grand River within the city’s boundaries to recreational use.

The closure of the Grand River is intended to keep community members and emergency response personnel safe during the rising waters. The Kent County Health Department as also issued a no-contact advisory for the Grand River due to the possible contamination the flooding can cause.

The city has also closed multiple parks because of flooding. Ah-Nab-Awen, Canal, Fish Ladder, Riverside and Sixth Street Bridge parks will remain closed until further notice.
