Flooding prompts road closures across W. MI

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Heavy rain and snow melts have caused road closures due to flooding across West Michigan.

The National Weather Service advises drivers who see water covering the roadway to “turn around, don’t drown.” A flood warning has been issued for all of West Michigan, including Kalamazoo County, until 1:00 p.m., Thursday.

Municipalities have said the following streets are closed due to flooding:

KENT COUNTY

  • The off ramp from northbound US-131 to 54th Street in Wyoming closed until 4 p.m. Friday;
  • Cherry Valley Avenue between 76th and 84th Streets near Caledonia;
  • Sorenson Avenue south of 22 Mile Road in Spencer Township;
  • Grosvenor Street west of Ritchie Avenue NE;
  • 5 Mile Road from Ashley to Montcalm avenues;
  • Division Avenue from Fonger Street to 11 Mile Road;
  • Ashley Avenue from 5 to 6 mile roads;
  • 6 Mile Road from Ashley to Montcalm Avenues;
  • Summit Avenue from 12 to 13 mile roads;
  • Friske Drive NE from 12 Mile Road to Rector Avenue;
  • Reeds Lake Boulevard from East Beltline Avenue to Manhattan Road;
  • Peach Ridge Avenue from 8 to 9 mile roads;
  • 2 Mile Road from Pettis Avenue to Egypt Valley Avenue;
  • Division Avenue from 7 to 8 mile roads;
  • Konkle Drive NE east of Jupiter Avenue;
  • McPherson Street NE from Lincoln Lake to Alden Nash avenues;
  • Cherry Valley Avenue from 84th to 76th streets;
  • 60th Street from Bancroft Avenue to M-50;
  • 60th Street from Pratt Lake Avenue to Montcalm Avenue;
  • 64th Street east of Pratt Lake Avenue;
  • Wingeier Avenue from 64th Street to 68th Street;
  • Pratt Lake Avenue from 64th to 68th streets;
  • Montcalm Avenue from Flat River Drive to Covered Bridge Road;
  • The right lanes in both directions of Patterson Avenue from 28th Street to Burton Street;
  • The off ramp from northbound US-131 to 28th Street;
  • Ivanrest Avenue SW between Prairie Street and Yellowstone Drive in Grandville;
  • Ivanrest Avenue SW at 34th Street in Grandville

  • Holton Road between Twin Lake and Brunswick, drivers should use Ryerson and Maple Island roads;
  • Todd Road is closed between Loreson and Weber roads in Fruitland Township;
  • Peters Road south of Apple Avenue is closed.

  • Westbound Chicago Drive is closed west of Port Sheldon Street in Hudsonville.

  • Eaton Highway between Sunfield and Shilton;
  • Elm between Brooks and Clarksville;
  • Elm Road between Clinton Trail and Peddler Lake;
  • Goodwin Road between Keefer and Lyons;
  • Harwood Road between Musgrove and Henderson;
  • Harwood Road between Tupper Lake and Eaton;
  • Kiddville Road between Orleans and Flanagan;
  • Kiddville Road west of Flannigan;
  • Kidvdille Road between Orleans and Canfield;
