WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is aiming to use Tuesday’s State of the Union address to note the economic progress under his watch while pushing for bipartisanship with Democrats on issues such as rebuilding roads and bridges.
The White House says the president will point to the economic benefits of his tax overhaul while pressing for additional funding for the military and an agreement on immigration. White House legislative director Marc Short says the president will “talk about how America’s back” and will appeal to Democrats to work with him on improving the nation’s infrastructure.
