LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Two leaders under fire for how their institutions have handled the allegations and investigations surrounding Larry Nassar showed up at the disgraced sports doctor’s sentencing Wednesday afternoon.
Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon walked into the courtroom shortly after a court-ordered lunch break. She maintained that she fired Nassar as soon as she heard about the abuse and that she’s committed to creating a better environment for reporting abuse.
24 Hour News 8 questioned Simon about that in light of the university promoting its Title IX investigator after Nassar was cleared in 2014.
“I’m not going to comment about MSU today. There’s a time and a place to do that and it’s not today,” Simon replied.
