Police seek 2nd driver in Holland crash that killed bicyclist

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are searching for a second driver after a deadly crash involving a bicyclist in Holland Wednesday.

It happened around 5 a.m. on Waverly Road between 24th and 32nd streets, according to a Holland Department of Public Safety news release.

Police said the bicyclist was heading southbound in the southbound lane when he was struck by a vehicle, driven by a 23-year-old man. After the first crash, investigators believe the bicyclist was struck by a second vehicle that fled the scene, the release said.

The bicyclist, a 20-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the man was wearing all black at the time of the crash.

Waverly Road was shut down between 24th and 32nd streets for more than two hours while authorities investigated the crash.
