Man killed in Grand Rapids stabbing; woman in custody

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was arrested after a deadly stabbing in Grand Rapids Tuesday night.

It happened around 11:45 p.m. outside a house in the 1200 block of Hovey Street near Fulton Street.

When officers arrived on scene, Grand Rapids police say they found a 40-year-old man lying outside with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, a woman in her 20s, was nearby and taken into custody.

Investigators believe the two were dating and the stabbing happened during an argument.

“There were no witnesses to the stabbing. At this time, we are just going to process the scene and interview the suspect,”  GRPD Sgt. Cathy Williams told 24 Hour News 8.

The Grand Rapids Police Department’s Major Case team is investigating the case, which is the city’s first homicide of 2018.
