Muskegon shooting suspect arrested in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (via WOOD TV 8) — The suspect in a Muskegon shooting that sparked an Amber Alert for three children was arrested in Grand Rapids Thursday and jailed on a multimillion dollar bond.

Officers from multiple jurisdictions surrounded a home in the 1100 block of Grandville Avenue SW around 3 p.m. Within minutes, 22-year-old Jaraun Dequan Render came out peacefully and surrendered.

“It’s a good day. Anytime you can get someone who is violent, he’s willing to hurt individuals in the community, off the streets as part of an investigation, it’s a good day,” said Capt. Geoff Collard of the Grand Rapids Police Department.
