Family: Man working when fatally shot in GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was killed after being shot multiple times in Grand Rapids Monday night.

It happened around 9:25 p.m. in the 400 block of Crawford Street SE near Madison Avenue.

Grand Rapids police say the 46-year-old victim was found lying in the street near his vehicle with gunshot wounds to his upper leg area, torso and head.

Family told 24 Hour News 8 the victim, who owns Brother Love’s Towing in Grand Rapids, was responding to call for keys locked inside a vehicle when he was shot. Police said that they couldn’t confirm or deny the information Tuesday morning due to the seriousness of the ongoing investigation.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries after being rushed into surgery, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.As of Tuesday morning, police had not identified a suspect, but investigators believe the victim was intentionally targeted.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the shooter fled on foot or got into a car. Officers did not recover a weapon at the scene.
